Headliner is anonymous unless you sign in
Playing needs no account and sets no cookies. We run no advertising or analytics trackers, collect no payment details, and do not sell or share any data.
What stays on your device
Your play state and stats — games played, wins, streaks, and your guess distribution — are stored in your browser's localStorage. If you don't sign in, they never leave your device; clearing your browser data erases them.
If you choose to sign in
Signing in is optional and uses your OSINT AI Labs account (the same one used by our other tools, managed at accounts.osintail.com). While you are signed in, your browser holds that account's session cookie, and we store your stats so your streak follows you across devices: the totals from the first device you sign in on, and then one record per puzzle you finish (the date, whether you solved it, and the number of guesses). Your account itself holds your email, name, company and job title. Signing out stops the syncing. To export or delete your data, use the data controls in your account's settings in our Concierge app, or ask us through our contact page.
What touches our servers
Guesses are checked by a stateless API: nothing about an anonymous player or their game is stored server-side. Your IP address is used transiently, in memory only, to rate-limit abusive traffic; it is not written to a database. Standard hosting logs are kept only as needed for security.
How puzzles are made
The daily puzzle is generated from published news headlines using the NewsAPI and Anthropic APIs. That process runs on news content only — no player data is ever sent to those services.
Children
The game is not directed to children under 13, and — with no accounts — we knowingly collect no personal information from anyone.
